I love hiking and whenever I go away I like to find places that are different from what we have here in CT. So apparently Illinois is the 2nd flattest state next to Florida…butttttt they happen to have this great place called Starved Rock State Park which Is a group of canyons that formed next to the Illinois River and 14 of the 18 have waterfalls. Granted there hadn’t been much rain so we didn’t see much water falling. I found this place simply by looking up best places to hike in Chicago. It is located in Utica which is a cute little town that looked like it was straight out of an old history book about an hour and a half outside the city. We hiked 6 miles through the Canyons and saw a lot of butterflies and dragonflies along the way. Definitely reccommends this place if you like hiking and seeing beautiful places!!!!
